Big Arjay kicks off his preparation with a win

May 13, 2019

Promising there year old Big Arjay kicked his preparation off to a perfect start on Sunday, by taking out the Benchmark 65 Handicap over 1010m at Ipswich.

Jumping from barrier three, he didn't show a lot of early speed but was able to settle midfield as the leaders rolled along at a solid tempo.  Approaching the turn regular rider, Matthew Palmer edged out away from the rail and once he was in the clear the strapping son of Reward for Effort proved too strong.  He pulled away to score by half a length over race favourite, Star Justice.

It was win number three for the lightly raced gelding and took his prize money total to just over $37,000.
