Ecker Road demolishes his rivals

Sep 01, 2018

Promising four year old, Ecker Road made an impressive debut for the stable by taking out the Benchmark 58 Handicap over 1100m, on Murwillumbah Cup Day.

Having his first start for new trainer Bruce Hill, Ecker Road had impressed in his work leading into the race and Hill was confident the gelding would be hard to beat.

With Rikki Palmer onboard, the Snippetson gelding settled nicely outside the leader for the first part of the race. Passing the 600m mark he was allowed to stride to the lead and never looked in doubt, letting down strongly in the straight to score by two and a half lengths.

It was the second win for Ecker Road and there certainly looks to be plenty more in store for him. Hill was thrilled to get the win on the board and will continue to step him up through his grades.
