Winning Accord breaks through

Sep 01, 2015

Winning Accord made a good impression in his Queensland debut on Sunday, with a solid win in the Colts, Gelding and Entires Maiden Plate over 1200m at the Gold Coast.

The former Adelaide galloper joined the Bruce Hill stable in April. Although he was a maiden he did have strong form, which included an unlucky forth in the Group 3 Sires Produce Stakes at Morphettville, at his last start before heading north.

He had trialled well leading into Sunday's race and started a short priced favourite.  Jumping form barrier six, the three year old enjoyed a nice run siting just off the leader.  On straightening jockey Matthew McGuren asked him for an effort and he proved too good, pulling away to score by just under a length.

Trainer Bruce Hill was thrilled with the result and will just see how the gelding comes through the run before deciding where he heads next.
