Amajill scores a deserved win

Mar 08, 2015

With a stack of placings under her belt since her maiden win last year, consistent filly Amajill returned to winners stall for the second time in her career on Friday, by taking out the Rating 0-65 Handicap over 1400m at Beaudesert.

Jockey Matthew McGuren was able to get the three year old into a perfect position during the run, giving her every chance to make an uninterrupted dash home.  She hit the lead at the top of the straight and fought on strong to hold out the fast finishing runner up, Earnest Desire.

Amajill was having her nineteenth start and from those runs she has finished in the prizemoney fifteen times.  Purchased as a yearling by trainer Bruce for the bargain price of just $4,0000 , the Murtajill filly has now collected over $40,000 for her connections.
