Kalandula wins on debut

Oct 28, 2013

Well bred filly Kalandula kicked off her racing career with a perfect start on Friday night, taking out the Reed Property Group Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate under lights at the Sunshine Coast.

Jumping form barrier eight in the field of fifteen, the three year old no luck in the run and was forced to race wide throughout.  Despite this, she fought hard all the way to the line to record a very gutsy win in the 1200m event.

A $120,000 purchase by trainer Bruce Hill at last years Magic Millions sale in January, the daughter of Commands always looked as though she would improve with time and that’s exactly what Hill gave her.  She had her first official trial only last month and has continued to thrive since.

The win was a welcome reward for her patient owners who look to have a very promising filly on their hands.
