Talent Code kicks off the new season with a win

Aug 03, 2013

The Bruce Hill stable had a perfect start to the new racing season with Talent Code taking out the Labour Day Racing Class 2 Handicap over 1666m at Ipswich yesterday.

It was the Timber Country gelding’s sixth Queensland start since arriving from Tasmania a little over four months ago.   During that time he has been plagued by bad luck and wet tracks but it was his day yesterday, with a dead 4 surface and a perfect ride by jockey Ric McMahon.

With plenty of speed on up front McMahon settled at the back of the field, the six year old travelled comfortably and as the run came Talent Code kicked up on the inside never going around another runner.  He rallied through to beat off race favourite Auguste by a long neck.

The win was only Talent Code’s third but trainer Bruce Hill believes there are more to come, stating “He’s a real stayer, he will continue to improve as he gets over more ground”.
