Burleigh Heads bounces back
Jul 31, 2013
Talented galloper Burleigh Heads returned to the winner’s circle on Saturday night with a comfortable victory in the Hot 91.9 Class 1 Handicap at the Sunshine Coast.
In a field of only six runners, he was well rated by jockey Kelvin Wharton who was able to control the race in front and the Choisir gelding kicked away in the straight to score easily by just under three lengths.
A rising four year old, Burleigh Heads has always showed ability but has had to overcome a few setbacks including a leg injury that required surgery and sidelined him for almost six months.
The win was his second from nine starts with his only other victory as a two year old in a Saturday metropolitan race.
Trainer Bruce Hill was thrilled to see him back to his best as he has always had a high opinion of him.
