Buffett scores easily on home track
Jul 02, 2013
Rising eight year old, Buffett scored his first win for the Hill stable in impressive style on Saturday when he took out the Accor Vacation Club Benchmark 75 Handicap by six lengths at the Gold Coast.
Since joining the stable in August last year Buffett had picked up over $50,000 in prizemoney without being victorious.
With a drop back in grade and a perfect ride by apprentice Matthew McGuren, Buffett never looked in doubt in the 2200m event as he enjoyed an easy lead in the field of only four runners.
Although it was only his fifth win from 54 starts, the Danasinga gelding has had a great career so far. As a three year old he finished second behind Whobegotyou in the Group 2 AAMI Vase and then went on to run forth in the Group 1 Victoria Derby behind Rebel Raider.
Saturday's win took his total career earnings to over a quater of a million dollars.
