Shabella scores on feature day

May 28, 2013

Talented filly My Shabella lived up to her potential on Saturday by producing a strong win in the Ambassador Travel three year old Handicap at Doomben.

Since arriving at the Hill Stable in August last year, the Haradasun filly has shown plenty of ability but has had to overcome a few obstacles to get to where she is now, including a nasty bout of colic.

It all came together on Saturday.  Jumping from barrier five with Glen Boss aboard she enjoyed a lovely run just off the speed and powered home in the straight to run down race favourite General Exhibit in the final stages.

The win was her forth from just ten starts.  Her overall record is impressive having only finished out of the placings on two occasions, once being beaten less than four lengths by Saturday's Doomben 10,000 winner Epaulette.

Trainer Bruce Hill has nominated her for this week's Queensland Guineas but is unsure whether or not she will race.  One thing that is certain is that there will be plenty more to come from My Shabella.
