Shabella strikes again

Apr 01, 2013

Talented filly My Shabella was back to her best on Saturday, taking out the Barrier Reef Pools Fillies and Mares Class 1 Handicap over 1200m at the Gold Coast.

Given a charmed run by apprentice Maija Vance, the three year old traveled comfortably behind the leaders before peeling out in the straight and wearing down the front runners to score by just under a length.

It was My Shabella's third run back from an enforced break after she suffered a bad bout of Colic late last year.   Her first run back she was far from disgraced when finishing third at the Gold Coast on a heavy track and she was only just beaten last start at Ipswich after missing the start.

Trainer Bruce Hill has always had a good opinion of the Haradasun filly who is a half sister to his former smart galloper Leapfrog.
