Tapakeg recorded his first Queensland win last week by taking out the Perry's Sunshine Coast Event Hire Class 3 Plate over 1200m.

Having his twentieth career start and only his third under new trainer Bruce Hill, the five year old was given a perfect ride by jockey Kelvin Wharton.

The son of Falvelon settled in the back of the field and was pulled out into clear running in the straight where he ran down the leaders to score by a head from runner up Vienne with race favourite Black Cash a further two and a half lengths away in third place.

The win was Tapakeg's fourth and took his career earnings to just over $50,000.
