Easy work for Teronado on debut

Jan 13, 2013

Two-year-old Teronado could not have made a more impressive start to his career than his outstanding win in the JLP Fabrication Handicap (1200m) at the Sunshine Coast.

Teronado’s ability came to the fore during his two barrier trials in preparation for his debut with his latest effort, a four-length romp at the Gold Coast, having him in perfect shape for his maiden appearance.

Things did not go as planned early when Teronado blew the start but the colt mustered pace quickly to settle about three lengths from the lead in fifth spot.

The son of Testa Rossa tracked into the race perfectly rounding the home turn to have the front-runners in his sights, waiting for Browne to ask him for an effort.

Browne went for home at the 250 metres but had little use for the whip as Teronado quickened stylishly to end the race as a contest with 100 metres to run before strolling to victory by 3-1/4 lengths.

The margin could have been greater had Browne pushed Teronado out to the finish but he left plenty in the youngster’s tank for his next assignment, which will surely be in harder company than the Sunshine Coast affair.

Bruce Hill paid just $45,000 for the exciting youngster at the 2012 Gold Coast Magic Millions Yearling Sale but Teronado took $6500 off that with his debut win with the promise of much more to come as he develops.

Congratulations to Teronado’s owners - Testadoll Racing (Mgr: S A Foster), Truwonga Racing (Mgr: S A Foster), Norvikings Racing (Mgr: S A Foster).
