THE spring carnival plans for rising Gold Coast star Startsmeup will become a lot clearer after he clashes with fellow local sprinter Tierqualo at Doomben today.

The Ownit Homes Open Handicap (1350m) is more than likely to be the rising four-year-old's last start in Brisbane.

Former Victorian apprentice Jarrod Fry will pilot Startsmeup for the first time today, with regular rider Paul Hammersley on holiday.

The 22-year-old Fry rode over 240 winners in Victoria before moving to Brisbane on a three-month loan with Eagle Farm trainer David Murphy.
