Flying Shadow going places..

Jan 18, 2011

The maturity penny is yet to drop on Flying Shadow but it hasn't stopped the continuation of his winning ways.
The four-year-old son of Shadow Creek and Cache Cove (by Quest for Fame) won his third race in eight starts in the Class 2 1000m on the cushion surface at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday.
Jumping straight to the front, the stoutly bred gelding held on to beat Exiled and Chanfal adding to two previous Gold Coast wins.
The best thing about Flying Shadow is the best appears ahead of him according to Bruce.
"He still carries on like a baby and although he is bred to get over long trips he has enough speed and raw talent to win over shorter trips," said Bruce.
"He is relaxed to the point that he is a poor track worker but once he is in a race he turns on."
The well bred Shadow Creek was a lightly raced son of Zabeel and Abbaye (by Ahonoora GB).
He was shaping as a talented type having won two 1600m races for Lee Freedman in Victoria from just six starts.
He started favourite in four of those races but injury prevented him from continuing to distances preferred by the stock of his multiple champion sire Zabeel.
Flying Shadow's dam Cache Cove also has staying influence being a daughter of Epsom Derby winner Quest For Fame.
"I haven't mapped out a definite program but once he matures he will be a pretty nice horse," Bruce said.
