Hill wins at Eagle Farm

Aug 28, 2010

Promising stayer Satch opened his account with a strong finish to win his maiden at Eagle Farm on Wednesday.
Bruce was pretty confident the three-year-old son of Hussonet would go close and told owner Nev Morgan to back it.
"Nev has always been a great supporter of my stable," said Bruce.
"A better owner you cannot find, just a top bloke who lets me do my job.
"Satch is a nice horse who has always shown ability.
"He has been a bit immature and is still learning but I know I have something good to work with."
The win came at his sixth start and his second run after a 20 week spell.
After he ran Military Rose to a nose in a trial on July 24 at the Gold Coast Bruce knew it was all systems go.
Satch then put the writing on the wall when a first-up second to the promising Slick Image at Doomben over 1200m.
The step up to 1400m suited admirably.
Jockey Paul Hammersley had him just off the pace and came with a well timed run to win.
He beat the handy Belltone with Reign of Courage finishing third.

Satch's being from dam St Lous Blues was named after the great Satchmo - Louis Armrstrong and what a wonderful world it was on Wednesday for the yard.
