Targeting the $100,000 Listed Goldmarket Handicap (1300m) on January 1 will be the Bruce Hill-trained Leapfrog who finished a courageous second to Baqaba in a Class Six Plate (1200m) at Doomben last Saturday.
"He is not a Magic Millions-qualified horse but that (Goldmarket) is a race where you don't have to be and I intend to get some of those Gold Coast riches," Hill said.
"He races particularly well at the track and he showed he is back to his best last Saturday."
Leapfrog has had three starts at the Gold Coast for two wins and a second.
The wins came at his first two race starts in August 2008.
Leapfrog was runner-up to Chakvetadze in the Group three Gold Coast Guineas before finishing second to Court in the Group Three BTC Classic at Doomben in May.
Apprentice Luke Rolls will retain the ride in the Goldmarket despite it being a non-claiming event.
"Luke has an affinity with him, they just get along well," Hill said.
"Leapfrog was a little bit of a terror to train early on and he dumped Luke a couple of times.
"Yet all his success (three wins and five placings in 13 starts) have come with Luke aboard and I'm happy to keep him on."
